10th Course on Epigenetics - 2014 - 10th anniversary, special edition

The success of the course relies on the active contribution of the participants who are expected to be proactive and participate in all of the organized events which include:
i) presentation of their own scientific project - poster
ii) active participation in the Journal Club to both present and review key articles proposed by the speakers,
iii) participation during the Saturday morning career development workshop and in the "epi-Courses" such as the “Art & Science” workshop.

For this 10th edition of the Course on Epigenetics, two outstanding conferences will be given at College de France by:
- Sir John Gurdon (Wellcome Trust, UK)
- Wolf Reik (Cancer Research, UK)
and this year a special session will be devoted to 4 to 5 student alumni who attended previous courses, who have gone on to successful careers in the field of Epigenetics.

The aim of this course is to provide an overview of epigenetic mechanisms and their link to chromatin dynamics. The different functions of the nucleus involving the genome and its organization will be discussed with an emphasis on technological limits and the new experimental approaches being developed today. Links between the disruption of nuclear function and the development of human pathologies will be discussed.

Organizers: Geneviève Almouzni, Nathalie Dostatni

This course is open to:
- M2 or Ph. D students (up to 12) of Parisian universities: 5 positions are reserved to M2 students from UPMC
- Master or Ph. D students from France and all over the world (up to 12)

This course extends over 7 days and can be validated by 6 ECTS for M2 by UPMC.
This course is part of the training offer from PSL*

Selection based on applications.

Scientific papers selected within the main topics covered during the course will be sent to the accepted applicants who will present them during the course.

Poster session: this presentation is an integrated part of the training to communicate scientific work with accuracy in a critical manner and will involve all participants. For this, the participants will prepare a poster describing their own research projet that will be posted for discussion the 1st day of the course.
