How to write a Scientific Paper with Leonie Ringrose - 2015

This intensive two and a half -day workshop about writing a scientific paper involves analysis of good and bad examples from the literature, practical writing exercises, and detailed feedback on writing tasks performed both individually and as teamwork. This course is now in its 14th year, and is given regularly at the DKFZ (German Cancer Research Center) in Heidelberg and the Vienna Biocentre.

The course will address many aspects of good writing style, for example: How do I find the best structure for each section of a paper? What is the correct grammatical form for citing literature or describing experiments? How do I manipulate the English language to be clear, to be persuasive or to be careful? How do I deal with negative reviewers and still get what I want?

Exchanges during this course will be in English.

PhDs, Post-docs and junior groups

The course has a maximum capacity of 14 participants. The course will be of most value to those who have already some experience of writing a paper or who are about to start doing so, however prior experience is not absolutely required.

IMPORTANT: If you register for the course, please be aware that this is a full time commitment, and you will not have time for other meetings or experiments during the course hours. You will benefit fully from this course if you attend the whole session.
